CCC’s Holiday Party!!


The party will be Thursday, December 19, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at Kathy and Tom Hara’s home. 

Email Kathy at to let her know you are attending and if you will be bringing your spouse or a guest.


Here is what to bring:

  1. Food to share (hors d’oeuvres, casserole, dessert, or whatever).
  2. Wine if you like. Kathy will provide non-alcoholic beverages & beer.
  3. If you wish to participate, one of your own photos that has been printed, matted and gift wrapped to put under the tree for our gift exchange! (Bring a photo, get a photo.)

Alec Johnson will discuss Light Painting


Alec is a Saint Paul – based freelance architecture and fine art photographer.  Two of his current passions include the photographic process of light painting and shooting his new projects around food.  He maintains a strong love for landscape photography, in particular Lake Superior and the desert southwest.

John Heino

Photographer and Digital Artist

Presenting his “Zen approach to Photography”

John Heino is a lifelong resident of Duluth Minnesota. He began his photographic adventures working in film as an art student at UMD in the 1980’s. Working in digital photography today, he describes himself as “a wide-eyed explorer trying to see the world again the way I saw it as a child.” John is especially attracted to fleeting moments.

John sells prints, framed work and images for websites and publications. His photographs are featured at the University of Minnesota Clinics and Surgery Center, Minneapolis; the Holiday Inn, Duluth; Frandsen Bank & Trust, Duluth; Memorial Hospital, Cloquet and have been exhibited at the Mall of America, Minnesota State Senate Office Building and Duluth City Hall.

His work has been featured in more than fifty exhibitions, including Heaven and Earth with the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra, Capture Minnesota shows at the Mall of America, A Night of Steampunk at the Lake Superior Rail Museum, The Duluth Gallery in Senator Roger Reinert’s office at the State Capitol and the Finnish Independence Show at The Depot, Duluth, Minnesota.

Publishing credits include cover photos for Lake Superior Magazine, Northern Sounds (Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra), Reader Weekly, Minnesota Explorer and two Christmas by the Lake CD’s (volumes XII and X). John’s images were published in Capture Minnesota Books II, III, IV and VI, Capture Wisconsin Book II and the 2015 Duluth Seaway Port Authority Calendar.  His photos have won 247 statewide awards in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Illinois.

John served as co-chair of Art Works, a Knight Creative Communities Initiative in Duluth Minnesota; fellow, Creative Community Leadership Institute Duluth initiative; board member, Duluth Art Institute; member, Steering Committee for the Duluth Public Art and Culture Master Plan and presenter, Twin Cities Area Council of Camera Clubs and Minnesota Rural Electric Association.
